MONIN BLUE CURAÇAO LA LIQUEUR
As a young man (only 19), George Monin started selling branded wines and spirits in 1912. He chose the slogan "Passion for quality" and this is the ethos behind the company to this day. A french company, it is still family owned, and it's now the third generation leading the business.
This delicious and well known liqueur is flavoured with the dried peel of the green oranges which originated in the West Indian island of Curaçao (from which the liqueur took its name).
The drink immediately conjures up images of a tropical paradise, with beautiful beaches and delicious cocktails. Indeed, this drink is definitely a must-have in bars.
The drink was discovered by accident by a Spanish family from Curaçao in the 19th century. It has a deep orange flavour, and can be made in a number of different colours - but it is perhaps the blue which is the best known. The colour gives a stunning tropical vibe to cocktails.
